HOW DOES IT WORK?

Getting a free estimate

Fill out a short request form here, give us a call at 503-679-6572 or send us an email at sales@sashandcord.com and tell us about your project! If reaching out by email, photos may be helpful and we'd also love to know an ideal timeframe/day of the week to drop by (if necessary) for measurements and a closer look. Smaller projects may not require an on-site estimate, but this can be a great chance for us to meet and answer any questions you may have about the process. Once the estimate is approved, we'll get you on our calendar as soon as possible!

Working in your home

Before we arrive, make sure the work area is accessible and clear of any furniture or belongings, picture frames hanging nearby, etc. We follow the EPA's guidelines on the safe handling of lead-based paint. This means we'll start by setting up a plastic sheeting lead-containment. This containment can vary in size and shape based on the space. Most of the work will take place from the inside, but we may do some work from the exterior as well. After the window components are removed, any necessary paint removal is performed and premium sash cord has been installed, we'll take down the plastic containment and clean things up like we were never there! To finish, a Certified Lead-Based Paint Renovator will perform cleaning verification.

Shop services

Most wood-rot repair, glazing, glass replacement, and painting will happen offsite in our shop. This means we'll typically board up the windows with plywood while the sash are being worked on, but we are happy to discuss all options based on your project's needs.

Shop time estimates may vary, but are as follows:

Completing the job

After we've installed the windows and addressed all items on the estimate, we'll do a walk-through with you to check the work and address any questions or concerns. When everything looks good we'll provide the final invoice for payment. We use Quickbooks for electronic payments and invoicing, and can accept cash/check, credit and debit cards, and ACH bank transfers.
